Salt Lake City is fifteen to twenty minutes west of my Millcreek base depending on your neighborhood, and city dogs come to me with a specific problem. Small yards, thin walls, constant noise, and a walk that is really just more stimulation. They are not under-exercised so much as under-decompressed.

That is what the pack hike is for. Two or three hours in the foothills, off pavement, with dogs who have been matched to each other, does something a lap around the block cannot. Note that City Creek and Parley's above the mouth are watershed and closed to dogs, so I use the Shoreline Trail and the Parley's creek bottom instead.

I live in an apartment. Is a pack hike too much for my dog?

Usually the opposite. Apartment dogs tend to be under-stimulated and over-aroused at the same time. I start every new dog on a short, carefully matched group and build from there.

Can you get into my building?

Yes, with a code, a lockbox, or a neighbor. Tell me how it works and I will use the same routine every time, which matters more to your dog than you would think.

Are City Creek and Parley's Canyon options?

Not above the mouth. Both are protected watershed and closed to dogs. The Shoreline Trail and the Parley's creek bottom at Tanner Park are open and are where most city hikes go.
